According to a 2012 survey about half of doctors reported at least one symptom of burnout. Increasingly mindfulness meditation is being taught to physicians and medical students in order to deal with the stresses of medical life. A 2009 study of such programs showed positive results with lessening feelings of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, anger, depression, and fatigue and increases in feelings of personal accomplishment, empathy, and vigor. A key point emphasized is body awareness from moment with integration of yoga-style movements into mindfulness programs.
